Garden Tractor Pull Rules

Rules

1.  Drivers 14 years of age or younger (kids Class), must have a permission slip signed by a parent or legal guardian listing name, tractor model and a disclaimer that the Alpena Cycle Club will not be held liable for any damage to the tractor or harm to the child.  Driver must be able to operate the tractor safely and without assistance.

2.  Tractors must be in good mechanical working order.  All tractors will be inspected.  Rules will be inforced.

3.  NO mower decks, two-cycle motors or motorcycle/snowmobile engines.  ONLY garden tractor engines or motors intended for garden tractor are allowed.

4.  No governor over-ride allowed.  A maximum of 4000rpm with no variance allowed.

5.  No chains, halftrax, cut tires, duals or 4 wheel drives.  RUBBER TIRES ONLY.  Maximum width of tires is 12 inches.  Maximum height is 32 inches.

6.  Gas or Diesel ONLY.  Additives and 110-octane fuels are allowed.  NO ALCOHOL, NITROMETHANE, NITROS OXIDE OR PRESSUREZED FUEL TANKS.

7.  All youth class tractors must have a tethered kill switch on the right side of the tractor.  All adult class trctors must have a read deadman switch.

8.  All tractors must have a hood, grill and garden tractor apperance.

9.  All tractors must have fenders, hoods and guard on pulleys.

10.  All tractors must have fenders with a minimum of 6 inches wide covering the top of the tire and down the side until it connects to the running boards.  The running boards must support the weight of the driver.  They are to be made of aluminum or steel.

11.  All tractors must be equipped with wheelie bars and they must be rigid enough to support the weight of the tractor and driver.  When wheelie bars touch down, the bottom of the front tractor tires cannot rise more than 12 inches off the ground.

12.  Maximum drawbar height of 13 inches, if the drawbar has more than one point of attachment the lowest point must be 13 inches or less and the top point shall be no higher than 6 inches from center of axle.  No portion of tractor may interfere with the sled chain.  All hitches will have a minimum of one and half inch inside diameter hold and be easily accessible.

13.  Pulling order will be determined by random drawing.

14.  One tractor may pull twice in the same class with two different drivers, but only one driver may place.

15.  A 20ft false start line with option of restarting one time only.  You may re-hook if you go out of bounds inside the 20ft false start line, but you must take the next pull.

16.  First puller in each class has an option to come back and re-pull as the last hook, but then must take the distance of the second hook.  Decision must be made before being unhooked from the sled.  Any part of the tractor out of bounds and any weights falling off the tractor while hooked to the sled will mean a disqualification for that hook.

17.  If a tractor fails to make it to the pulling sled on schedule, they will go to the back of the line.

18.  A scale will be provided on site by the Club.  All pullers will weight in prior to pulling in each weight class.  Rules committee may re-weight any puller at any time upon protect.

19.  A HELMET IS REQUIRED FOR ALL TRACTOR PULLERS.

20.  All weight classes are the total weight of tractor, weights and driver with helmet.

21.  Weights cannot exceed 12 inches behind the read wheels and height cannot rise more than 32 inches from the ground.  Weights cannot extend more the 24 inches beyond the front axle.

22.  Weights may be repositioned on false starts or re-pull only.

23.  Shifiting of gears while pulling is permitted as long as the sled does not stop its forward momentum and no jerking.

24.  A driver must remain seated at all times while pulling.  No bouncing.

25.  No weight class variance is allowed.

26.  If a child turns 14 years of age in the middle of the pulling season that child may finish out the season pulling in the kids class.  However, you have to option of moving up to the adult class.  Once you move to the adult class, you cannot return to the kids class.
