BUMP AND RUN RULES AND REGULATIONS

The Bump and Run is designed and promoted as an unusual spectator sport. In the interest of safety anyone entering is subject to and must obey the following rules and regulations, which are set up by the Alpena Cycle Club Inc and the track where such event is held.

                                                                                 GENERAL EXPLANATION

1.    .Each and every driver must read and obey all rules written in the following pages.

1. The track or promoter reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries.
2. Only owners, drivers and mechanics that have signed the release sheet will be permitted in the pit area or on the track because of insurance liability.
3. Members and entrants of the Bump and Run event are not employees of promoter or the sponsoring track but are considered to be independent contractors.
4. The decision of the Race Director and flagmen will be FINAL. There will be no voting on rules infractions.  If protest is filed concerning a car make-up or results of heat then a $250 deposit will be required and the event will be stopped until dispute is resolved. If dispute is upheld the deposit will be returned otherwise it will be forfeited!!!!!
5. The event will be composed of the individual heats and one feature with a cash purse going to the winner of feature and cash prizes to Second, third and more depending on number of entries. Individual heat winners will receive cash prizes.                                                                                                                                                                                    ~
6. The feature event will be comprised of heat winners and maybe second place cars to be determined on race day.
7. A driver may enter more than one car in event but will be allowed only one car in feature event.
8.      The use of intoxicating beverages or drugs prior to or during the event disqualifies the car and crew driver.  
9.     Once a car passes inspection, no refund of entry fee will be permitted.

CAR AND SAFETY REGULATlONS

    The owner must perform the following steps in preparing a car.

1.         All glass must be removed from the car, including the headlights, taillights, mirror, etc. Absolutely    no glass inside doors, trunk or interior. All broken glass must be removed for your safety.

1. Every car must have solidly mounted seat belts and air bags removed or disconnected!!!!!

1. Rollbars are mandatory, a minimum of 3 points should be over driver side. The 3 points must be connected to each other. Pipes or angle iron going up along both sides of driver seat with a connecting pipe or angle iron across top and another angled down from the middle of top pipe to the back floor or frame wherever it can be solidly secured. This is minimum, more angled iron or pipes may be used but not exhaust pipes. If stock car class is used then the stock car must have at least a 2 inch or bigger pipe mounted directly behind driver seat and securely fastened at the top and bottom with a minimum 12 inch square V. inch plate with a side pipe from top to floor behind passenger seat to prevent collapsing during rollover.

1. All doors must be fastened shut by wire, straps, chains or welded with no more than two 4-inch welds.

1. All decorative chrome stripping (drip rail, parking lights etc) must be removed from outside of the car.

1. BATTERY’S AND GAS TANKS -- Battery’s must be moved from factory location to inside care in a safe and secure fashion. A sturdy steel box or comparable.  Battery must be covered with a fire proof material and secured.  Factory gas tanks must be removed and replaced with an approved tank inside car.  Boat tanks, Homemade steel, aluminum, or stainless is acceptable as long as they are secured and don’t leak.  They must be covered with a fireproof container and secured.  NO PLASTIC TANKS.  Fuel cells are also expectable.

1. Cars must have a forward gear, reverse gear and brakes before the heat begins.

H.    Entrants are encouraged to decorate their cars in any manner within the limits of good taste. NO PROFANITY PLEASE!!

1. Both front doors should be painted white unless you have a pre-numbered car. This area is for number only.

1. Radiator must remain in factory-installed position. No auxiliary radiators allowed . For environmental reasons do NOT leave antifreeze in radiator, use water or environmental safe antifreeze.

1. Radiator support may be reinforced with up to 2-inch material not to exceed past radiator support or be connected to fenders.

May have one kicker on each side within 18 inches of radiator support. Excess reinforcement not permitted!! To avoid a confrontation with inspectors and to avoid having to cut excess support structures don't make a battering ram out of your car.

1. (NEW) MANDATORY!!!!!! Install a minimum blank 12 inch square metal, tin or wood piece vertically on the roof of the car to put number on to help scores keep count of laps!!!!!!!

1. Hood and trunk may be wired or chained. Trunk lid may be welded. 4 chains allowed on hood as long as they don't cross each other. 12-inch square hole in hood above air cleaner required in case of fire.

WHO MAY ENTER BUMP AND RUN EVENT

Any person who has reached the age of 18 and who follows all safety regulations,  which are as follows:

1. All drivers must wear an approved safety helmet and face shield or goggles.

1. Seat belts and helmet must remain on until your heat is finished. No smoking in cars!!!

1. Deliberate hitting of driver’s door will lead to immediate disqualification.

1. All drivers must stay in their cars until the end of their heat unless a red flag has been displayed because of fire.

SPECIAL ATTENTION

1. No more than 5 gallons of gas to be used during a heat.

1. A driver may qualify more than one car for feature but he or she may only drive one and no one else is allowed to drive the other car.

1. A car must have run in a heat to be allowed into powder puff or junk heat if one is held.

1. Any unsportsmanship conduct will result in a disqualification and possible suspension from future events. If you are out of contention for a place finish then it would be unsportsmanship to interfere with drivers that are in contention!

1. You must complete one lap to have it counted and scored as a lap.

1. A HEAVY RUBBER MUD FLAP (no carpeting or tarps) must be attached to the back of the car. It MUST cover the entire width of the car and come within 2 inches of the ground. If the flap comes off the car totally or partially the car may be disqualified. This is for the safety of the drivers, spectators and flagmen!!

1. Only 2 wheel drive cars allowed in the event. No 4 wheel or all wheel drive vehicles allowed.

1. No tires larger than 15-inch standard car unless 16 inch tires come standard on the car, 31-inch maximum height. No liquid filled or double tires allowed. No studs or screws in rims or tires. No heavy tires, mud bog type tires or reworking of rims. Rims must be stock production, DOT street legal tires only!! No tractor tires!!

1.     No Plexiglas windshield but a heavy wire screen in front of driver side only is permitted. Passenger side for escape route.

1.   If heat is stopped because track is blocked by disabled vehicles then any vehicle that is assisted by outside source may be disqualified;   this will be up to the discretion off track personnel. Do not put yourself in this situation!!! Stay out of trouble ...

1. If you cut off ends of front bumpers, you must do it as such to leave a smooth edge. NO ragged or sharp edges. This will be an inspection point. Best to just bend in the ends of the bumper.

PICKUPS

1. Weld front box edge to cab with metal plate. Maximum ¼ inch thick on each side of box.

1. Stock truck boxes and bumpers only. Stock tires and wheels only.

1. Tailgates not required, but must be chained, strapped or welded if used. If tailgates are not used, they must have chain or wire across the top back to keep original width of box.

1.      Fuel tank must be mounted solidly in the center and front of box. All other fuel tanks must be removed.

1.      All car rules apply except for truck amendments.

IMPORTANT

Vehicle should be able to pass all inspection points before arrival at event. No last minute adjustments in pit area!! If your vehicle can't pass inspection before arriving then don't waste our time or yours by bringing it to the event!!!!!!!

IMPORTANT POINTS!!!!!!

1. Under "Car and Safety Regulation" section pay special attention to "C", “F", “K" and “M".

1. Under "Special Attention" section carefully read #2, #6 , # 10 and # 11.

CUT OFF TIMES FOR REGISTRATION WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!!!!!!!
